I have not made burgers or chicken breasts on it yet but I think it would work perfectly for both. The flame/heat is infinitely adjustable allowing just about anything to come out nicely cooked. The h-shaped burner inside the top of the cooker is separated from the outer steel cover by a layer of fire brick that holds a ton of heat. I haven't noticed any hotspots with mine. If we end up losing power here in Houston during the storm, I'll be cooking all kinds of new foods in my broiler.
