fwiw I brought my own meals to every event I went to (family wise) for 4 years. Eventually, I stopped showing up because no one else had to prepare their own food to show up. Suddenly my family learned how simple it is to have vegan options. I didn't make a big deal about it either.
Oh the power of an open mind...
