That article is terrifyingly stupid. It's not just advocating reducing Free Speech rights, it's advocating reducing Free Speech rights of only white people - the justification for which is beyond absurd.

this author is one of those people who is so far down the rabbit hole that you can't even discuss or debate the issues with her
quote:
A black kid who gets thrown in jail for possessing a small amount of marijuana will face consequences that will directly affect his ability to have a voice in public life. How does the A.C.L.U.’s conception of free speech address that?
when they say shite like that in an article about the 1st Amendment, they admit they have set sail and have left reality
quote:
The question the organization should ask itself is: Could prioritizing First Amendment rights make the distribution of power in this country even more unequal and further silence the communities most burdened by histories of censorship?
this is why the auth-left are scary. either they are liars promoting propaganda or have left reality and are so far away from it, they refuse to acknowledge simple concepts like rights. then they justify ignoring universality of rights by some insignificant reach of a precedent (in this article, it's race-based admissions that violate the equal protection clause)
they are evil authoritarians who use sophistry to rally dumb and ignorant people to their mob and nothing more
