It wasn't about peaking too soon.

2001 Mariners won 10 out of their last 12 games.

They were the hottest team in baseball - not just record-wise.

But then they barely beat the Indians in the ALDS...

Their loss to the Yankees was not a shocker though...the Yankees beat the A's whom the Mariners struggled with all year. Mariners just weren't as good as their record indicated.

They had a rotation that looked like freddie Garcia, Aaron sele, Jamie Moyer, and Paul abbott

Freddie Garcia had a solid year but after that? A whole lot of meh

The M's were as good as their record indicated. You don't win 116 on a fluke. They just burnt out in the playoffs. Happens to a team almost every year.
