No, one full season is probably not going be enough to know if it's the right move, but I think it might be enough to know it's the wrong move.

I expect LSU to go at least 10-2 this year, so it's going to be pretty hard for Orgeron to exceed my expectations. For this to be considered the right move, Orgeron needs to prove he can sustain success over several years. Personally, I'm fired up for the Orgeron era, but just winning this year, where we have a pretty favorable schedule, is not enough data to go off of.

However, if this team goes 8-4 or worse, I'll be pretty critical of the hire, unless there are serious mitigating circumstances.

Mitigating circumstances include:
*Etling going down and none of the backups pan out (similar to 2002 when Mauck got hurt mid-season).
*Major injuries on the O-line (I mean to the point we're playing 3 freshmen or walkons). Competent coaching should be able to make a patchwork offensive line work to some degree

??? We play at Florida, Bama, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. Probably one of the tougher schedules we've had in a while.

This is probably closest to the way I feel about it but some folks don't want to hear this.

I think if Canada is just amazing he'll be gone in a season and we'd be back to square one, looking for a coordinator. I don't know how long that strategy can last.
