My wife and I have gone to strictly using DirecTV Now, Hulu, and Netflix, plus an HD antenna for the major networks.

DirecTV Now works pretty well, but has big issues with buffering sometimes, especially when streaming old shows. Oddly, it has more issues streaming old shows than when watching live streaming.

I have had it since launch. It is getting much better. No DVR yet but that is currently in beta and slated to be released this fall. Along with a completely new UI/platform. I think New Orleans locals are just around the corner as well.

I'm very happy with it, particularly at my promo $35 for Go Big rate. There is a good amount of discussion on the Tech board about it.

I've had it for about 8 months now. I really like it. Although I did get in at the beginning when they were doing the Go Big package at $35/mo plus free HBO plus a free Apple TV.

Two cons for me: no CBS local, but apparently that's about to change. And no functionality to stream to Chromecast (which I have in my bedroom).

But the app itself and the product I think are both great. They're working on a cloud-based DVR function too, I received an email about being a beta tester for it.

That will be awesome. I don't mind not having regular cable, but I do sometimes miss having a DVR. I don't always like having to wait for stuff to come on Hulu.

I didn't even think to check there,

thanks to all.

Apart from DVR and locals issues, is it as good as actual DirecTV? No. Is it very good for the price? I think so. Also, not having a contract is quite liberating. Especially as more services are rolling out. The competition and innovation is quite nice.

The app itself sucks, but it gives you a log in for individual network apps just like cable.

I've had it for about 3 months. No complaints here. I was paying 180 a month for direct tv and now paying $25 a month for same channels direct tv now since I have unlimited AT&T. And pretty much what LSUBoo said, streaming live isn't a problem but watching on demand has buffering issues.
