trying to make Trump into the villain here is just as insane as scruffy's statement

I don't see things in terms of heroes and villains.

NK is a twisted and horrible dictatorship, but Kim Jong is by all accounts paranoid, isolated, and scared shitless.

Trump, who should know better, is responding in the same petulant and short-sighted approach he applies to most issues. He is certainly not the villain, but his actions are unquestionably needlessly escalating the situation. You can't tell me with a straight face the joint chiefs told him to make those comments

Put the two situations together and combine it with a lack of diplomatic relations and you've got right now a 2 or 3% chance of outright war between nuclear states. I don't know about you, but that's 2 or 3% too high for my tastes.

I agree, to an extent. I like Mattis's retro "speak softly and carry a big stick" style and wish that would be the prevailing attitude.

However, the point is that the media is trying to set Trump up to be a failure so Obama doesn't look as feckless in comparison. At the same time they're trying to pin the blame on Trump and not KJU, which is completely dishonest.

you may not but CNN has created that narrative

quote:

Trump, who should know better, is responding in the same petulant and short-sighted way the applies to most issues.

after coming off a historic diplomatic victory in the UN

which one actually matters?

quote:

and you've got right now a 2 or 3% chance of outright war between nuclear states. I don't know about you, but that's 2 or 3% too high.

it's always been that high

NK is not the issue, anyway. China is

that's why the UN victory was such a scary moment for the partisans and why they had to push a narrative that makes Trump the villain

that kind of plays into Scruffy's point. what does the media seek to accomplish? push Trump into a corner so that he actually launches nukes at NK? they're either pushing him to do this or trying to make him look bad for partisan reasons (while still pushing him to do this). that's why Scruffy said what he did. if he media truly cared about the SKs, they'd suck up their pride and praise Trump for how well he's handled this situation GENERALLY. instead, they can't help but attack Trump to promote tehir partisanship which may actually raise tensions into actual war. that's just terrible shite
