Coach O should have got the USC job for what he did there.
Why? He lost to their two biggest rivals and beat one decent team. At that point, he was 5 years removed from being the worst coach in OM's history. He did nothing to prove he deserved that job.

ironic on here considering everyone was fed up with similar results from CLM
c'mon man. miles was not in the SEC hunt in his last 5 years. he was fired protecting his OC just as Dinardo was fired protecting his DC.
when you are making 5 million a year, you are paid to produce. he produced for his first 6 or 7 years then didn't. I supported miles for a long time but frankly, he just quit trying to improve his offense and deserved to be canned.

Could that be because most midseason firings are because the teams are horrible. Neither USC or especially LSU were bad football teams
You must have missed my two posts - one where I posted that USC was 4-7 in their last 11 games and the other where I posted the teams they lost to and won against(all four of them).
USC was unranked. LSU was unranked. Both were ranked at the end of the season under O's guidance.
It's a fact Jack. You can't argue it away.

USC had more talent than anyone they played. And LSU the same except for Bama.
Played and lost to, until Coach O took over anyway.

Forgive me if i dont jump for joy over beating a bunch of shitty teams with our top 5 talent
I really don't care what you do.
quote:
I dont care what the previous coach had done with that same talent. (they were fired, stop using them as the measuring stick of success)
How convenient.
Let's not talk about Coach O taking over an unranked USC team that had gone 4-7 and took them to a winning record, bowl game and national ranking.
Let's not talk about Coach O taking over an unranked LSU team that had gone 4-5 last 9 games and took them to a winning record, bowl game and national ranking.
No, let's just talk about what happened over a decade ago. Ignore the way he turned USC from a losing team to a winning program. Ignore all of the moves he has made since being the HC at LSU.
Sure, why not?

Have you seen his contract? You post things as if they are facts without posting any facts at all, just opinions. So you don't think that LSU can get out of that contract if he is struggling? I mean I really don't know either so I'm asking because you posted this as if you know something I don't. So let's see it?
The buyout only says that they are protecting the LSU HC if he's successful. So LSU believes he will be successful, big deal. Post some details because I assure you there is an out for LSU if he fails. If not it's got to be one of the dumbest contacts ever written by anyone.
I deal with contracts all the time and EVERY single one I've seen always has a contingency plan if the contractor doesn't comply with the details within his contract. It also binds the client to the contractor, if the client breaches the contract, the contract is void and the contractor can then do what he wants, like leave or ask for a new one, what ever.

I have only seen where people count the DL as the strength of the defense.
I thought the big defensive losses were Kendell Beckwith, Duke Riley, Tré White, Jamal Adams, Dwayne Thomas and Rickey Jefferson.

If LSU had Bamas schedule I would say 10-2 is possible..........

Why?
Tell me why the previous coaches were fired.
Tell me why the teams performed better after Coach O took over.
Tell me how Coach O was the recruiting coordinator at USC since 2010(hence the "more talent").

You're right, i dont have the contract. Just posting what CBS and the Advocate (who claim to have the contract) said...
CBS article
The subject line says, "Orgeron would be an extremely rich man if he left or was fired after the 2017 season"

USC always has more talent than the rest of the Pac12. Has been that way since 2002. Good for O.
I base expectations on what the talent level should achieve versus the competition. The other fired coaches were sucking, thats why they were fired, so thats pointless to compare.

Why?
Why not answer it? Because you know neither team achieved anything more than was they SHOULD have achieved. And each team lost to teams with less talent....did they not?

Yeah, I just wish he hadn't been able to retain Dave Aranda as DC, hire Matt Canada as OC and finish with the 7th ranked recruiting class with only 23 players. My job of hating him and convincing others they should hate him also would be SO MUCH easier.
But, did I tell you what happened when he took over the juggernaut known as Ole Miss over a decade ago?

He had the worst tenure ever at Ole Miss, but taking over someone else's program holds more weight. Legit.

Both coaches weren't doing a good job? Coach O took over and did better than the previous coaches. The sought after Lane Kiffin and the best coach LSU ever had.

Do you think Alabama has more talent than LSU?
Did you not notice that LSU gained 423 yards in the Florida game? With a TE's coach running the offense?
Did you notice that if Dave Aranda's defense hadn't given up a 98 yard pass play that UF gained a total of 172 yards? And even with the pass play they only gained 270 yards.
You hate Coach O. Nothing he has done at LSU or anything I say can change your mind. I'm okay with it.

You forgot to say "taking over someone else's program - who by the way had just been fired - twice, one of them on the tarmac at the airport, holds more weight. Legit".

USC went in a different direction twice. I guess they disagree with you. I am shocked.

Did he not do at LSU what I said
Did you say LSU beat up on teams with no run defense by leaving starters in almost the whole game and scored a grand total of ten points AT HOME against teams that had a pulse of a run defense?

Well he won't be cut in 2017 barring a total disaster, which is extremely unlikely.
Was it the best hire? We really don't know what all the options were or what the contract details intel so that can't be answered until we see results.
There is no debating that LSU could have gotten a more proven coach, but how much pressure would that have put on everyone being how the money would have been through the roof and all the changes that would have come with it. I think he nailed the hires of Canada, Robinson, and Joseph but we'll see.
I don't see how LSU so called fans don't see how talking about our HC this way won't affect our beloved school in a negetive way. Give the man his due. These kids are and these recruits don't seem to give a damn about his past. They are looking at what's happening now and as of now he's done a solid job with all the changes he's implemented so far.
Let's get behind the HC at LSU because believe it or not, it does affect the same school we love. It's time our fans get behind the man, then if he fails we'll all want him gone too. He's here nothing is going to change, the negetive rhetoric needs to go.

Yeah, how did the Steve Sarkisian hire turn out? Got the athletic director - Pat Haden fired didn't it? I bet he regrets going against alumni, fans and players wishes.
The newest hire remains to be seen. He was hired by Kiffin the year Kiffin and Orgeron went to USC for the second time.
As he was leaving Dan Weber asked Pat Haden "How's it going" and he responded, "I've had better days.
In looking for an article, I found this. When a drunk Rich-Momma shows up he should see this.
Orgeron, reportedly was being courted to be defensive coordinator by Helton
If Ed Orgeron succeeds at LSU, Pat Haden will need to enter a witness protection program
Lane Kiffin couldn’t win with the same players Orgeron won during an amazing run with the Trojans.
What Could Have Been If Ed Orgeron Was Named USC HC Instead of Steve Sarkisian
