I have a pretty great quality of life here in Louisiana. Good job, friends, family, network, schools, neighborhood, etc.
I know it isn't like that for everyone so I don't really blame those people for wanting to leave.

I have lived all over the world. I have travelled.
I will never live outside Louisiana again.
One side of my family was uprooted during le grand derangement and sent back to France. They left and came here to join their family in New Orleans and then moved to the swamp to make money with timber. The other side saw Germany walking toward stupidity in the late 1800s and moved to Michigan. A year later they were in Louisiana.
We have roots here. Deep ones.
There are good people everywhere, but the hardheaded stubbornness of your average louisianian is something I hold dear to my heart.
