You'll do better just buying one I think.
Check craigslist. You can probably snag a used one for pretty cheap, especially in BR.

The've got some really cheap (and quiet) ones out there that can power all the things you need for a tailgate.

AAA Rentall has them. but if your going to rent more than a few times, you're better off buying
