Really? The military isn't a come one, come all organization. There are parameters that you must fit in so as to optimize warfighting and be efficient.

How does accepting individuals with massive counseling needs and a propensity for self harm (the military has a hard enough time tackling the suicide issue as is) further combat effectiveness?

We should not as taxpayers seek to promote an inefficient DoD. It's purpose is to provide tools in support of foreign policy. Does accepting transgender feeling individuals further that? Are the tiny number of trans types worth it for DoD? Should paralyzed individuals or those with chronic, non-communicable disease be allowed to join?
