It's calling people out in this country for hypocrisy. If you can't see that there are people in that body who voted for sanctions against Russia for invading Ukraine but continually push for war with countries who have not attacked America, I don't know what to say.

You can walk and chew gum. America can both be in the wrong for actions they have taken and continue to take and be in the right to punish others for actions they take.

You are the type of person that would of pointed to the annexation in the Philippines to complain about why we would have no right to chastise Hitler for the remilitarization of the Rhineland.

I am still waiting on a defense for how your advocacy for inaction is any different from appeasement?

What Russia did is not in dispute. They annexed Crimea, they have multiple egregious instances of human rights abuses including torturing dissenters and killing journalists, and they took active cyber measures to try and spread disinformation and attempt to undermine our democratic institutions. If your response is to do nothing, then own that. Quit hiding behind the whataboutsim shield.

It isn't appeasement, it's political reality. What do sanctions accomplish? Seriously, our politicians say we look weak if we do nothing, but do we not understand the world simultaneously laughs at us and loses what miniscule credibility we have left because of our hypocrisy? I would argue that imposing and enforcing sanctions against an enemy for something that we ourselves blithely do damages our credibility worse than doing nothing.

We invaded Iraq in 2002, an act Kofi Annan deemed illegal and in contravention of the UN Charter, as we did not have a Security Council authorization. Did that stop us? Hell no. Would sanctions have stopped us? Hell no. Our ruling elite wanted war and they got it.

You keep talking about accountability for our actions. There is no accountability for us, as we are the world's superpower. There is accountability only for those who aren't our allies. We should not be imposing sanctions on countries for the same kinds of acts we've committed and not been sanctioned for simply because we rule the world.
