I think we need to cut him a break because if I remember correctly, he told us that he retired in the year 1993. That's a very long time ago and it's been that long since he's been an Officer on active service. So, he's had lots of time to drift away from the fold. I do assume that he was a fine Marine and a fine Officer in his day, which ended within months after Bill Clinton was newly Inaugurated -- long time ago.
You never really get out of the Marine Corps and as near as I can tell, the values don't seem to have changed much.
Some people want to belittle me - I don't mean you - because they can't refute my argument.
Whatshisname said, "Aha! That picture of Saddam and Rummy the Dummy was photoshopped!" As if pictures together of them didn't exist and even films of them together. I can't imagine what his point was.

Everybody on PT has been belittled at some point or another. If you post a foolish view, you might get belittled. It would be better if somebody who belittled you might include a good explanation WRT why you are being belittled and foolish but that doesn't always happen.
Take for example USMC General Smedley Butler. You know that with a name like "Smedley" that kids in school belittled him. Well, did Smedley let that crush him? No. He took those lemons and made lemonade by becoming a USMC General. But his name will always be Smedley. That's OK, though because maybe he has a manly tough middle name. What's his middle name? "Darlington"? Oh, never mind. Those names made him tough enough to earn the Medal of Honor TWICE.
