Maybe on the smallest compact car with the lowest trim package. This wouldn't be the case for SUV's or trucks. There are thousands of dollars in profit built into those, which is why they can advertise thousands of dollars in discounts. If you pay their discounted price, they are still making good money off of your sale.

I work in the industry. I've seen the #'s myself. Again the difference in invoice and msrp is usually shite. You made my point about discounts and incentives being a lot of the money. If a customer doesnt ask about an incentive they don't get the break, and the dealership pockets that $.
