I'm very rarely a fan of the word mark logo. I absolutely hate it on our helmets. Just too busy. Simpler is better.
The FDL is unique, it's simple and it's associated with Louisiana. It's already the primary logo for academics, athletics should go that route and make it their main logo.
That combo on the left is GOAT.

For a brand that needs it's messaging to be on point, you want Ragin Cajuns greeting viewers on TV.
