Thanks for the recommendation. I've kind of been looking for a new mechanic. I used to use greenwell springs marine. Don't get me wrong, they did great work, just extremely pricey and the guy who runs it isn't very personable at all.

Well, just heard back from the mechanic on what the problem is. Apparently the liner on the inside of the fuel hose came undone in little pieces and was scattered throughout the fuel system. After doing a little research, this looks to be a pretty common problem on Mercury motors.

I brought mine to Louisiana Outboard in Denham Springs. I've had a lot of people recommend them. They're straight forward. Won't do anything that's not necessary and won't do anything until you approve it.
