When I'm speaking to my family members about my father I'll refer to him as "daddy." To others I'll call him "dad."

For instance, I'd never say to a friend, "My daddy is coming to visit next week."

I do, too. But I received a call from him and was hanging out with friends, so I answered "hey daddy, what's up..." and that's how it got started.
