If the USPS didn't make this contract with Amazon, Amazon would have made it with FedEx, ups, dhl, etc.
Chances are much more likely that this contract is what is keeping the USPS viable.

They likely have. Pretty sure that I receive Amazon packages from all three major carriers.

I doubt any of those companies would make a deal that cost them money (delivering for below their own cost), but if they were willing, then hell yes, let them do it instead of the USPS doing it and costing ME money.
