Eh, I mean the old system, you get one final shot on a guy and get a kill when somebody else has done 90% of the work, and you get a kill.
I can understand wanting to at least be able to see actual kills (which who knows what all stats you'll be able to look at in the full game), however I prefer this system better personally.

This happens way less than the other way around.
If somebody is skilled enough to do most of the damage, most of the time he will finish them off.
