The word "frick" originated when plays were shut down by the King of England because the play included something derogatory about the King.
The King would send someone to the location where the play was being performed and that person would screw a wooden plank across the doors so the doors couldn't be opened and the initials "F.U.C.K." were put on the wooden plank which stood for "Forbidden Under Censorship of the King".
It is also where the phrase, "you've been screwed" originated.
