Yes it has happened to an extent. The Bama effect has done more to change the division than anything els. If you look when I first posted the stats you'll see that Miles first 5 seasons at LSU the SEC west was under .500 as a whole then Saban went to Bama and raised the league up to over the .500 mark. Then The addition of Texas A&M raised it up some more to where it is now. The other major difference in the two eras is that the bottom teams tend to be completely non competitive in this era compared to Sabans era. Besides Crooms early years at State every game in the West was a dogfight back then.
