Just my opinion but I believe Fournettes talent made it harder for Les to change his philosophy on offense. They didn't do anything special against Auburn in 2015 or Ole Miss in 2016.
I think it's easier or maybe more emphasis is placed on being creative on offense when you have lesser talent.

However, Les did seem to get enamored with star power. As in the better the player the more reliance on him to produce and less "help" he got by design.
It always seemed to me that Les would put more into creating opportunities when the star power wasn't there. Best example would be with Ware, Ford, & Blue vs. Fournette.
I wouldn't call it laziness by any means. It just seemed he believed in superman powers at times, but with no superman he had to make up for it with creation.
