everal monkeys escape during the filming of the old Tarzan movies in the 1930's and 1940's that were filmed in the Ocala area. They remained somewhat protected due to the Silver Springs tourist attraction. Now, from what I understand the population has grown to a point of being a problem.

Well... which is it? Old Tarzan movie monkey, released pets, monkey's brought in as attractions or release science study monkeys with herpes? Or all of the above?

Morgan City, LA had a monkey population at one time from the original silent movie Tarzan that was filmed down there. I don't think there were enough of them to create a self-sustaining breeding population there, however, so I doubt there are any left.
