Man, did this series start out great and the sputter at the end or what?

That first book was a really good read and the second one was good too, but the third book just seemed poorly planned or something. Like he didn't know how to end the story.

I am pretty surprised that the series doesn't get a lot of "hate" around these parts, to be honest.
