If I didn't know who was already coming in I'd say Pap. But I think we have that covered. We probably won't get quite the same level of receiving that we got used to, but we'll be good at catcher.

The two middle infielders are going to be hardest to replace. I've posted it on here before and been universally criticized, but I think we'll take a big step back at SS. A year from now most on here will think this is wrong, because Smith will prove to be a very reliable fielder. What they'll never realize is the number of balls he's not going to touch that Kramer would have fielded.

I think the same is true of Freeman. The strength of the 2017 team was defense up the middle. A lot of would-be hits turned into outs because of the range of the middle infielders and Watson in center. And of course Pap controlling wild pitches and controlling the running game. When the pitching was on it was a fun team to watch because of that sparkling defense.

Freeman definitely will be a difficult spot to replace fielding wise

But SS? Are you just guessing that Kramer can get to more balls than Smith? Have you ever seen Smith play SS or just going off of his play at 3rd?

Anyone who has seen Smith field at the shortstop position knows just how crazy and baseball smart he is at the position
