Hank Williams
He would be the greatest of all time on the strength of "Long Gone Lonesome Blues" alone. He wasn't accurate of pitch nor did he possess great, proper technique but that's not what Country Music is about in the first place. Hank sang with genuine attitude, singular creativity and style, and for reaching the listener with greatest effect, he simply has no peer.

3. Merle Haggard
4. Johnny Cash
5. George Jones

His songs are 2.5 minutes of raw emotion. You can feel the mans pain and sorrow. I've heard few things in life that can match the power of his songs. They're haunting.
