And the NBA has no willingness at all to change their entry qualifications because they don't care about player development. They care about who will be the next big splash. Period

you're 100% wrong
college is not the ideal place for development for an NBA player
1. they play completely different games. zone is a huge part of this. it bastardizes both defenses and offenses. also those trapping/pressing teams are basically a few years of losing NBA development on both sides (but obviously more on defense)
2. college coaches want to win, which can be at the expense of development. this is why KG went pro instead of going to college, for the ultimate example. had he gone to college he'd have been a straight college 5, playing the middle of a zone, and would have never developed into the HOF player he became
3. college coaches are inferior about 99% of the time
4. college restricts the amount of coaching/training that can be done and lacks the total resources the NBA provides young players
5. training/physio is worlds different between the two
