There are somewhere around 660 commandments given in the Old Testament. The way I have heard it explained by more theologically inclined people than myself, is that Jesus knew all of the commandments given before he lived, but said that if you take care of what Luke 10:27 says, then the rest will take care of itself.

I'm saying that there are no parables in the old testament and few in the new. There's no lessons to be learned from the old testament, just history and laws.
