Crime in NOLA is a major problem, but stuff like this is complete hyperbole.

Of course it is.

A great way to never fix it is to immediately label any sort of progress toward it as "hyperbole".

Good work! You'll do whatever it takes to keep your voting bloc in place. We know this already.

Which part? The part about convention and event organizers taking notice?

I happen to sit two boards that organize national/international events. I argued against going to New Orleans with an event this past May when it hit the planning calendar. Attendance at the event was 60% of what it was in Atlanta two years prior and 40% of what it was in Las Vegas last year. Guess what most of the event reviews were "I will not return to New Orleans" or some variation.

The other board just had to go to Baltimore this year with a different event - preregistration for that event is roughly 60% of what it was the previous year at this point.

Even if a board doesn't pay attention when planning an event, they will dang sure take notice when people stop attending because of the locale.
