@AdamKaufman I'm told #Celtics offer to IND for George is LAL/SAC pick from PHI, '19 MEM OR LAC pick, Crowder, $$ filler (Zeller pop name, Bradley poss).

This is the Boston radio guy that was talking about George/Hayward the other day

Is it me, or did Lamar's head look so tiny back then?

I still buy an issue here or there if there's an article I like. They need to do like Sports Illustrated and an online vault of all their articles. I would even pay for that

On topic: I would definitely center the deal around Crowder as the primary player name. If you sign Hayward, no real minutes for Crowder and he could help lessen what else you have to give up.

The only way I give up that SAC/LAL pick is if I know I can get him to sign an extension. Otherwise, you're giving up a top-five, likely top-three pick for one year of Paul George. Is that really worth it?

That would certainly get it done. Lots of people here last week were saying that the Pacers were risking a lot by walking away from that Randle or Clarkson + 27, 28 offer.

It's just funny that your first reaction to a Celtics/PG/GH thread is how could it negatively affect Durant. And then act like it had nothing to do with Durant.

It honestly was more about the Warriors as whole. I hated the Warriors greatly well before he went there.

Alternate theory: Gordy goes back to his college town to join forces with PG and the pacers go 82-0.

Some reddit user/salary cap wizard broke down all the scenarios in which they could create space for both George and Hayward

quote:

If we want Hayward and George:

We need to lose Bradley, Olynyk, Amir, Jerebko, Zeller, Mickey, and James Young unless there's a convoluted sign-and-trade opportunity involving us, Utah, Indiana and maybe someone else. We'd also have to renounce Gerald Green, but there's a chance we could get him back for the minimum again. I'm assuming that's not an option for the others.

We can only keep one of Smart, Rozier and Crowder, taking no salary back. And keeping Smart or Crowder involves a Kelly Olynyk sign-and-trade and stashing Yabusele another year.

We're not re-signing George now without moving Horford.

Unless ownership wants to set a record for luxury tax (as plenty of others have laid out) we wouldn't be able to re-sign both Isaiah Thomas and Paul George after this season even if George decided he wanted to stay.

Decent haul for the Pacers and Boston still has Brooklyn's possible No. 1 pick.

Do we know what Boston was offering on Draft night? From reading the Woj tweets that night it sounded like Danny was throwing everything at Indy and it just died all of a sudden

I still think Boston would be better off being patient and using all of their picks for themselves. Even with PG and Hayward, they aren't beating Lebron or the Warriors.

Not true.

Boston doesn't want to trade for George until they have their decision from the FAs they are going after. They would still go after PG if they don't land Hayward/Griffin etc.

They want to wait till after because that's the only way they get PG + one of the FAs

If they pull it off I will have to make sure my spot on the bandwagon is secured

They have the assets to get it done.

Cleveland is in trouble if this happens. Not saying they lose that series but they'll be in a battle.

What would their rotation look like?

Thomas
George
Hayward
Horford
? Is Olynik gone in this scenario?

Smart
Tatum
Brown
Zizic?
Yabu?
Abner?

Out: Bradley, Crowder, Rozier

I'm guessing Brown would also get minutes at the four in small ball lineups.

George would be the 3 and would play a lot of small ball 4, too. Zeller at 5,

You're forgetting Smart.

Yes, he did last year too.

I was kind of thinking that for George, but I remember he was imperative about not wanting to play the four in Indy. I don't think they can afford Zeller in this scenario.
