Coworker (AA associate in the firm) was lamenting on how that Fernando Castille guy was murdered by police, and then he turned on 'that black man in Mississippi named Alton' was was murdered by white cops because he had a concealed weapon on him.

He says it's because white people, in general, are afraid of brown people. He also said none of Castilles/Sterling's transgressions amounted to a summary execution, even if they were present.

I corrected him on misidentifying the location of Alton's death, but punked out and didn't call him out on the possibility that Sterling went for his gun.

I never know how to engage minorities when they open up with stuff like this; is it my place to debate the intricacies of possible oppression? After all, I've never been black.
