People want a king, and texting (edit: I meant tweeting) is very unkingly.
I personally don't like some of his tweets as they seem petty, but we elected someone to head one of three branches of the federal government, which is but one of many many governmental bodies comprising this nation. So, who cares?
Also, (putative) proponents of a more direct democracy should appreciate the direct and constant communication.
Finally, the hypocrisy of people outraged by texts is palpable, as I doubt most of them had issues with Obama's constant pettiness and Billy Jeff's BJs. Those were just endearing personal quirks.
Predator Drones.

How can ANYONE in their right mind have a problem with Trump tweeting?
1. People who work in the media. It is usually their job to dispel information about what the president is doing or thinking to the people. This gives them tremendous power to mold the President's statements to fit the narrative they wish to tell and the agenda they want to push. Trump has cut out the middle man.
2. People who do not like what Trump says. A lot of people disagree with him. They will not like what he says no matter the medium and they will hate every medium he uses.
3. People who do not like "unprofessional" speech. Trump's tweets often make him look like a teenage girl. Some times, that kind of frank talk is enlightening, endearing, and refreshing, but sometimes it just looks immature, unprofessional, and embarrassing. Some people want to see a little more decorum. There's a lot of breathing room between occasionally ranting like a 12-year old girl and speaking in political lawyer-speak. Trump could go a long way towards sounding a little more presidential without completely censoring himself.
