Duly noted and fixed

I thought about that when I first made the new conferences but though about putting in to a general audience

Fifth would be Appalachia Louisville, Kentucky, West Virgina, Va Tech, Vandy, Tennessee, Pittsburgh, Virgina

WVU and VT would just trade off who is the best team every year.

If you have an Appalachian-based league in your realignment fantasy and don't name it the Mountain East Conference, I got bad news for you son - you're doing it wrong.

you pair each conference of 8 with a region. Those 2 conferences play each other in the regional round of the playoffs (all 8 conference champs make the playoffs)

North Region
Great Plains
Iowa
Iowa St
Nebraska
Kansas
K-St
Mizzou
Oklahoma
Ok St

Great Lakes
Michigan
Mich St
Ohio St
Indiana
Notre Dame
Illinois
Wisconsin
Minnesota

East Region
Atlantic
Boston College
Syracuse
Army
Pitt
West Virginia
Penn State
Rutgers
Navy

Tidewater
South Carolina
Clemson
Virginia Tech
Virginia
UNC
NC St
Duke
Maryland

South Region
Piedmont
Louisville
Kentucky
Tennessee
Miami
Georgia
Georgia Tech
Auburn
Florida

Gulf of Mexico
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss State
Alabama
Florida St
Arkansas
Texas
Texas A&M

West Region
Pacific
USC
UCLA
Stanford
Cal
Oregon
Oregon St
Washington
Wazzou

Rocky Mountain
Arizona
Arizona St
Air Force
Boise St
Utah
BYU
Colorado
Texas Tech

The following current P5 teams get left out:
Vanderbilt
Wake Forest
Northwestern
Purdue
TCU
Baylor

The following non-P5 teams get added:
Notre Dame
BYU
Army
Navy
Air Force
Boise St

The first conference is easy the old PAC 8 Oregon, OSU, UW, Wazzu and the 4 California schools

The second would be the Mountain West/Great Plains Arizona, ASU, Utah, Colorado, Texas Tech, Kansas, Kansas St, Nebraska

Colorado pretty much told its old Big 8/12 members to get fricked. They would have no interest in this scenario. Plus, the PAC doesn't want to lose the Denver and Salt Lake markets. You can't kick Wazzu and Oregon State out, but they are the weak links historically speaking.

Realignment is about money and eyeballs glued to television sets, some of those conferences would be terrible in that regard.
