Why? He probably should have stayed in school, but he had a good combine and once Trevon Duval committed with Allen coming back there was too crowded of a backcourt. DX had him projected in the 2018 1st round. He's one of the youngest guys in the draft and is going to spend time this offseason rehabbing. He's not ready for the NBA and won't be this year. It was a future upside pick.

i'm fine with the pick (i know absolutely nothing about the player) and the idea in general. it's a smart strategy. i wish they had started using it about 4 years ago.
but it's not a 2018 1st round pick. saying so is just sort of bullshite PR to me. for instance, what type of contract are they signing him to? things can get tricky there, unlike with some of the built in protections for teams w/ 1st rounders.
i'm fine with them dealing the pick for Cousins. they should do that deal 10/10 times. and i'm fine with taking this guy. just be honest to your fans about what you did
