Having spent a whole summer each in Gulf Shores and in Rosemary Beach working on construction projects, i think it really depends on which town you end up in. In each case, I got to the respective town in mid to late march and left around labor day, so i got a dose of off season and peak season in each. Overall, both had their merits and drawbacks; Gulf shores, everything was alot more of a drive to get gas, groceries, etc, but it was much more reasonably priced. Gulf Shores is also a ghost town when not in the peak season (its kind or eerie to drive around when its like that). Rosemary had alot more permanent residents, but tourist prices for everything stayed all year round unless you drove all the way into PCB. Tourist influx was about the same in both places. Believe it or not, I actually preferred the gulf shores crowd to the snooty Rosemary crowd.
