today's choice

oct 21- 22, 1978 winterland, SF

these are the first shows after the trip to egypt to play in front of the pyramids, which only a few hundred were lucky enough to see. part of a five-night run to celebrate their return

Disc 1: October 21, 1978;

Sugaree
Passenger
Stagger Lee
I Need A Miracle
Got My Mojo Working >
The Other One >
Stella Blue >
Sugar Magnolia
US Blues

Disc 2: October 22, 1978;

Ollin Arageed>
Deal
Peggy-O
Jack Straw
Scarlet Begonias >
Fire On The Mountain
Not Fade Away >
Goin' Down The Road Feelin' Bad

disc 1 features a definitive version of "the other one" in its late 70's arrangement, and to many the very best "stella blue" ever performed. "olin arageed" on disc 2 features hamza el din on percussion & vocals leading to an amazing transition into deal. john cippolina (quicksilver messenger service) and lee oskar (WAR) also guest on a few tunes

1978 is underrated, here's a good example of how amazing it could be
