And across the northern mid west ask them if they consider native Americans in those race relations?
Honestly, the most severe case I saw was this sweet, small woman who worked with me who was from North Dakota.
The moment you mention Native Americans... it was like being a step or two below full-blown Nazi, and I SWEAR I am not exaggerating.

Our previous owner had lived in Oklahoma for many years and he was the same way. You never mentioned Native Americans in front of him unless you wanted a 10 min tirade of profanity.

One thing I do recall, however, was how the South felt like it was perpetually being depicted as "racist".
That's because it's where the races live. I've said it before, black people live in the south.
It never fails that some dumbfrick from northern Seattle wants to preach to me about racial tension and relations. I always politely tell them to frick off. What? You're not racist because the 2% of your state that is black is made up of rich black people? Congratulations.
I bet you that same douchebag hates white trash trialer Park poverty cycled idiots. It just so happens that in the south alot of those poverty stricken idiots are black instead of white trialer trash.
America is 13% black. Louisiana is 33% black. New Orleans is 60% black.
No shite you're going to find racists in the south. We have the majority of another race here.
I always laughed when people claimed some sort of racism because more blacks than whites were affected in Katrina. No shite. The entire city was under water and the entire city was 67% black. It wasn't racism. It was statistical fact

So not much has changed in population densities in 150 years.

I was born in 79 so my school years were between 84 and 97. Personally, I saw quite a bit of racism in my small Alabama town. I won't list a whole lot of examples but one that sticks in my mind was from the first grade. I was sent to the office for calling another (white) kid a ni***r. I had no idea what it meant I just thought it was an insult. The principal sat me down and explained to me that a ni***r is a black person and to only call black people that.
That said, none of the people I knew seemed to have any actual hate for black people. We intermingled and got along fairly well. We lived in separate areas of town but people freely visited each others neighborhoods and even homes. We played baseball and football together, went to school together, and somewhat hung out with each other.
I had an odd childhood because my parents were divorced and I would spend a year with my mom in Montgomery and then a year with my father in San Jose, CA. On the surface, there did seem to be less racism, at that time, in San Jose but there was a strange phenomenon of people feeling like they could let their inner racist out as soon as they found out I was from Alabama ( "Ni***rs are filthy animals. You're from Alabama so you know what I'm saying". No, no I don't know what you're saying). Also, some of the most militant racists in the country come from the west coast.
I've never been to New England but everyone has heard the horror stories about Boston. Just from watching TV and living in this country it seems like they have extra racism in places like NYC and Phillie. It's not just black and white, they really break it down to specific sub groups. Hating Lithuanians or Croatians or something like that.

African-American population in Oregon has consistently been around 2% forever.
This is because Oregon prohibited black people from the state until the 1920's. Google "Black Laws of Oregon".

Preach on Breesus! I don't care of someones race. It doesn't define that person to me. If you are lazy, lie, take handouts for no reason, that's what makes me not like you. I shouldn't have to support your arse.

The older I get, the less I find I care what they think, one way or another...
