The Rant would explode if that was Mainieri.
Eta: Of course, the tradition hadn't been established at that point.

202 Ks, for Big Ben, O'Donoghue had the best pickoff move I've ever seen, Leskanic, and Springer completed the rotation with McDonald, Ogea and Byrd were just really good Freshmen

I was born in the 90s though

Should at least know Ben McDonald as an announcer. C'mon man.

I know Ben and Chad. Wasn't Chad from Sulphur?

I should be able to give you 50 downvotes for just not knowing who Big Ben is..
You should also know Byrd Leskanic Springerand Ogea if you followed any MLB growing up.

Bethea
Mallski
Cordani
Tellechea
Chamberlain

bullshite. By 89 we had a great tradition. We were baseball's Duke basketball, always there but couldn't get over the hump. Two years later that changed, but we were considered elite in baseball already.

I was referring to the expectations that Mainieri deals with now. In '89 LSU hadn't won 6 titles.

Born in the 90s and I know 4/6.

Which would you say had the best pro career. I haven't researched it but my gut says Paul Byrd. Ogea was my favorite. In 1991 he was the man! Ben is obviously my sentimental favorite.

Chad Ogea was a Jose Mesa blown save away from being World Series MVP

Springer pitched for 18 years, hard to beat that
He pitched with Mike leake who pitched for ASU in the 09 cws that lsu won for perspective & OP over here talmbout 1989

Then you're not an LSU fan. I have fans who don't even try to learn the history of the program. I could understand not knowing a couple of them, but all six? Jesus!

Paul Byrd pitched in the majors for 15 years, had 929 strikeouts, and made all star in 1999.
