So Trump dismissed everyone from room, and Comey thought it would be OK to leak to the NYT

How do you write (and release) a personal memo, about a presidential conversation, that by your own testimony, he wanted to be kept confidential?

The former director admitted to crimes today. I'm not sure why he wasn't led away in cuffs.
He admitted to balking on the Hillary investigation because of pressure from Lynch.

I still don't get Comey's rationale for why he says he jumped the gun and held the July press conference to publicly exonerate Hillary.
He says that because of the inappropriate meeting between Bill and Lynch on the tarmac, that THIS is what spurred him to "get out ahead of this" and hold a press conference.
This still makes zero sense to me.
Everyone knows the point of Bill and Lynch meeting was for Bill to ask Lynch to pressure Comey to close the investigation........ AND THEN COMEY CLOSES THE INVESTIGATION.
So WTF was he "getting out ahead of"??? He did EXACTLY what looks would be the result of the tarmac meeting.
Why the hell is this not being investigated by a Special Council??

He only confessed to leaking memos after 5/12 and the dinner leak was prior to 5/12.
Honestly, it could have been anyone who leaked about the dinner.
Maybe Russians hacked his laptop and released the dinner memo.

I imagined that she told him if you recommend that no charges are filed that Hillary will let you stay on as FBI director. Then once Hillary lost, he figured that his days were numbered and started to memorialize every conversation with the President.
