What was the most difficult part for you? What sort of things were unexpected? Costs associated? Any regrets?

In a perfect world this would be what I do. I'm just not in a position financially right now to do so. Any stories or experiences are appreciated. I'll be heading to sleep soon so I'll check back when I wake up.

Don't drink on the job and don't frick your bar tenders. I've seen two successful businesses crash and burn because of this.

You need to be there all the time or your staff will rob you blind

My grandfather did in his later years, but he was an alcoholic.

They say do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life.

I know someone who opened a bar after he retired from the military. He had the money but no experience in the bar business. So he partnered up with someone who had extensive experience in the business.

So, 5 years later, my friend has the experience and his former partner has the money.

Didn't start one, but bought an existing one and it's been successful. It's not easy or glamourous.

Take all your money you saved and go to the casino and bet it on black or red. Way better chance of making it work.
