I know the man personally. And you simply don't know what you are talking about.

Mike reported to the bridge after the blowout. Because that was his official muster station. He was part of the damage control team. As the electronics control officer, he tried to get power restored to the bridge so that they could try to engage the BOP umbilically from the vessel. But the generators were gone, and it was hopeless.

The reason he got so much credit is because most people bailed right away. They didn't report to their correct muster stations and go through their damage control checklist. Mike did.

By the time they elected to abandon ship, the vessel was so far off center that the fires prevented Mike from getting to the life boats. So he climbed up and out onto the heli deck, and jumped 90 feet from there into the ocean, breaking his ankle when he impacted the water. The only difference in the movie is that Gina Rodriguez wasn't there with him. That was Hollywood.

Anything else you want to know? I can text Mike and ask him for you.

Yeah, I'd like to know how big the dinosaur tooth was IRL. Imma hang up and listen.

Did they also really hit a bird on the way out to the rig that day?
