But he's looking at his own personal prospects, and they are really slim. He needs to play at the position that best puts his talents on display for as long as possible. He needs reps on the edge to show off for the next level, which he is absolutely capable of playing at. So in a sense, I don't blame him. When you are that talented and unable to really know you're going to get those reps it's tough to handle. LSU is a really, really unique situation as a school. The best want to come here, but sometimes, that same fact prevents the best from playing as much as they should.

this is correct. I don't blame any kid for transferring if it's to get more playing time. College careers go by very fast - and they want to get on the field as much as possible.

I don't care about someone "having the chest" for competition. Guys want to play, and if it's not happening at one school, go somewhere else where chances are better. For every feel-good story about a kid waiting his turn and succeeding his senior year, there's a bunch of others where guys waited and never got on the field.

Go somewhere else and play.

See, this is where I think you're wrong. Saivion Smith wouldn't have to wait until his senior year to play. He would have provided valuable depth and played a ton in the Nickel. Playing time isn't the complaint because he would have played.
