But they still want Brexit, they have made that clear in their statements.
Yes but Theresa May wanted a hard Brexit. That's why "the immediate effect will be nil" is retarded. Negotiations start next week and now the EU knows that the Tories are depending on support from a party for whom a physical border is a red line.

Agreed. I just take issue with the idea that this election is a repudiation of Brexit. Especially when the DUP is still for Brexit (albeit a careful or soft one due to their shared border with Ireland) and the facts that Cameron and May both campaigned against Brexit before the referendum. This is much more about May not working hard to secure votes and people questioning her leadership. She has been hit hard after the recent terror attacks and failed to respond well. She also backed out of the debates. She was a weak candidate.
quote:

Arlene Foster, the DUP leader, is keen to avoid a hard border with Ireland and has spoken against a "hard Brexit." She has said: “No-one wants to see a ‘hard’ Brexit, what we want to see is a workable plan to leave the European Union, and that’s what the national vote was about – therefore we need to get on with that. “However, we need to do it in a way that respects the specific circumstances of Northern Ireland, and, of course, our shared history and geography with the Republic of Ireland.
