The election obviously went poorly for the Conservatives, however it's not quite the earthquake people are making it out to be.
The immediate effect will be almost nill, the next UK government will look and function largely unchanged from the last.
The main thing that happened was May ruining her reputation and political career.

Interesting new narrative. Last week, we knew with certainty that the terror acts would only continue momentum in the direction of Brexit. We also knew that polls were irrelevant.

Fascinating spin.
By any measure this was a truck wreck for May. Having to go to a minority party in attempt to form a government has hamstrung her on any brexit negotiations. She should have resigned and let someone else have a go at it.
