Wow, its almost as if one of the teams playing last night was from another country on that country's own channel.

How is that relevant to the discussion? Canadian viewers are irrelevant when comparing popularity in the US.

Fwiw, the largest audience for NBCSN conference finals was LA vs Chicago in 2014 - 4.18MM viewers. That's still considerably less than the NBA game last night.
