You're really splitting hairs. They're signed to contract with Sony, they only make games for Sony consoles, they report to Sony. They're a part of SIE.

And even if "Sony" isn't in their name, Sony Japan is a game developer that's produced games like Ape Escape, Knack, and all of Ueda's games.

Sony makes games.

At first, I thought it was just an elaborate troll. Nah, you're just dumb.

Sony owns the IPs, product, physical offices, and assets of each studio. They even own the IPs for several non-first party studios. Sony literally owns over 15 studios across the world. They are not contracted, they employ them. There's literally no difference between Sony owned studios and Nintendo owned studios.
