Buying Certified Pre-Owned

I'm looking at buying a used GMC Sierra that is certified used from GM. The car appears to be in really good shape but I am always leery of used vehicles. I know this is the OT and everyone buys new but help a poor ole baw out with any experiences you have had.

Buying used is actually the preferred method of purchase on the OT.
I know right, who would think that all these multi millionaires would be buying used cars on the reg.

Did it with Lexus. Great car, not cheap but that car is still running 12 years later. However much better built. Not sure about GMC products due to build quality.

I don't understand the value of certified? Seems like it's a marketing thing.

Rarely ever buy new, that's stupid unless you get a great incentive deal like my wife did in the VW TDI buyback. Certified or lightly used cars are definitely the way to go. A helluva lot cheaper and still under warranty.

I believe the gm certified sticker is crap, I bought a Z71 that was certified years ago after first oil change it started smoking, boring 60 over wouldn't fix the cracks so had to put a new motor in almost new truck

I never buy a used vehicle. Unless you are dirt poor and buying an old car for a couple grand.
I mean, how much money are you really saving by buying this certified used vehicle? A few grand? It's not worth it. Especially with the markdowns that GM offers on prior year vehicles.
*Also never buy the extended warranty that the salesman tries to get you to buy.

I have a certified pre-owned Yukon. Best vehicle I've ever owned. No problems whatsoever.

If you can afford a certified GMC SIERRA then you can afford a new one.
Memorial Day weekend is almost here, take advantage of rebates. If GMC isn't competitive go to Chevrolet. Same truck

Everyone is comfortable at different levels of risk. I bought my wife a slightly used minivan, but after I took care of some unknown issues, I lost my savings. I typically buy new because I know nothing about cars, and want to reduce my risk of a lemon. Regardless, those slightly used vehicles were unloaded by someone for a reason. Most were rentals, and treated as such.
