I think there's only one building (or series in this case) that I can say with reasonable confidence will still be up in a thousand years, and they're the Pyramids. They'll be buried before they're destroyed. Mankind's most durable building is also one of its most ancient. That and some impressive dams. Other than that, most structures are far too hollow, metallic, or wooden to hold up for more than say 300 years without significant constant repair.

I agree. If you think about the world trade center, people have all these crazy theories, but if you think about it, although it took some planning, if you think about it, it is a relatively easy concept.

The first plane, which hit the west tower, if I had to guess, they probably hit it a little bit higher than they intended to, but it was still able to do the job. The planes pretty much sliced through the building when they hit, not all the way through, but enough to cause damage to the structure it didn't go completely through. At that part, the damage to the structure was weak enough to let gravity do the rest of the work. When the top part of the building started to crumble, everything coming down, which includes a plane, just took out everything under it.

People are saying "jet fuel isn't enough to burn through steel". But a plane was strong enough to do the structural damage strong enough to do what they wanted to do. A commercial plane was the perfect size, anything smaller might not have caused as much damage and I don't think it would have mattered if the plane was any bigger, it would have had the same result.

Remember a few years before 9/11 when they tried to take out the world trade center? They thought they could do it by taking it out from the bottom. After they were unsuccessful, they probably went back to the drawing board and figured out exactly what it would take to bring them down.. And I don't care who said it was impossible to take them down, but they were a little over confident, because like you said, structures are far too hollow and there will be wear and tear so any structural engineer could have found away to bring them down..
