We still have our Confederate Monument on the state capital grounds in Montgomery. And nobody is taking it down.
There is a bill being introduced in the Alabama legislature that would prohibit the removal of historical monuments.

If I was a NOPD officer I would resign tomorrow for a multitude of reasons the biggest being that the NOPD is now seen as nothing more than glorified construction staff.

Once the removal crew gets there in the morning the police presence will increase.
They're not going to have 100 cops standing around until 6 am when they start the removal. They want them to get some rest because tomorrow is going to be a long day for them.

What happened to the firefighters being mad about having to do it? Did the union get a bigger payoff to stay quiet?

The problem with that is the wind is blowing like a mofo and I don't think the light towers will shine light that high. If they point the lights up they will be shining light in every hotel room, apt, condo.
