RIP
Saw him with Audioslave. They rocked hard. I wonder if he got back on the sauce. What a shame.

Anyone able to find the cause? He was in Detroit so it could be anything.

Damn that's awful, he had an amazing voice. How did he die

No one knows exactly yet, I think he did a live show earlier tonight in Detroit also.

My guess would be drugs but I thought he had been clean for a while. What a shame

Arguably the most legendary voice of the 90s. Sucks.

One if the grunge metal forefathers. Rip

Damn, I had no idea he was so old- not to say 52 is "old" or an age you'd expect someone to keel over. It's just strange to think of someone like him being 50+.
Audioslave is one of my all-time favorite bands for their first album, it's absolutely perfect and Cornell is amazing on it. I got into them in highschool around 2009 and was amazed by the concept of Rage Against the Machine's instrumentalists teaming up with a beyond competent vocalist.
I regrettably have neglected to dive a great deal into Soundgarden's work.
He has one of the greatest rock vocals of all-time, a supernatural mix of grit, pain, passion, and surprising sensitivity.
Any word on the cause of death?

All I've read so far is he died unexpectedly in Detroit.
Soundgarden and Alice in Chains were two of my favorite bands in high school.

For Soundgarden listen to:
The Day I Tried to Live
Fell on Black Days
Superunknown
... The day I tried to live is one of my all time favorite rock songs.

Chris Cornell could scream a song pretty good but Layne Staley was the best by far

It's all subjective. I get either side.
